Today (10th January) UNISON notes that several parties have confirmed their support for a deal to restore devolved government in Northern Ireland. Responding to this, UNISON Regional Secretary Patricia McKeown said:

“We welcome the fact that several of our political parties have now reached agreement for the restoration of government.

Today (7th January) UNISON has noted the statement from the Chief Executives of the HSC Trusts seeking that unions postpone industrial action scheduled for this week.

Commenting on this, UNISON Head of Bargaining and Representation, Anne Speed said:

Today (6th January) UNISON, the largest union across the health and social services system, can announce that our members working across the health service will be taking strike action on Friday 10th January. This is a continuation of the industrial action that commenced in November 2019 over the lack of pay parity with NHS workers in Scotland, England and Wales and over unsafe staffing levels.

The UK Government has announced new hourly rates for the National Minimum Wage from April 1st 2020 after consulting the Low Pay Commission:
from £8.21 to £8.72 of those aged 25 and over;
from £7.70 to £8.20 for 21-24 year olds
from £6.15 to £6.45 for 18-20 year olds
from £4.35 to £4.55 for Under 18s
from £3.90 to £4.15 for Apprentices

UNISON submitted a response to the ‘Northern Ireland Office consultation on a new legal framework for abortion services in Northern Ireland’ on Monday 16th December.

"The specific decisions of the Industrial Action meeting of all branches on Monday December 16th last are as follows:

Action short of strike by all UNISON members willing to take such action continues on until January 31st. Legal notices have been served on all Trusts and arms length bodies to that effect.
